Morgandesign Apprentice Scheme

We started the Apprentice Scheme in 2002, and have since taken on 3 apprentices.

The scheme was developed to give opportunities to local school leavers. George Morgan himself was trained locally and completed one of the last Rural Development Commission funded Apprentice Schemes.

We work using traditional skills handed down through generations. These skills are in danger of being lost as our work is being imitated by reproduction furniture companies.

In 2005, one of our Apprentices was awarded Apprentice of the Year at Rycote Wood, Furniture Making College, Oxford.

Apprentices are often considered too expensive for modern business. At Morgandesign we value our Apprentices as an essential investment for the sustainability of both our business and the furniture making industry.
